We are one week closer to the start of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. This particular World Cup is still a prime example of sportswashing, in which an organization uses sports to take attention away from something bad. In this case, distracting away from Qatar’s human rights record and the brazen bribery it took to secure the World Cup from FIFA, the international governing body for soccer.Â
So, it’s still terrible but the games will go on. So for you new and not-so-new fans out there, here is part 2 of a haiku-based preview of the 32 teams competing at Qatar 2022. Last week featured the teams in Groups A and B. This week, meet Groups C and D. Next week will be Groups E and F, and finally the week after that, Groups G and H, right before the tournament begins on November 20th.Â
Group C:Â
Argentina 🇦🇷
Will Messi win it?
Sentimental favorite.
Is fifth time the charm?
Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦
Green Falcons hard pressed
to advance to knockout stage.
Virtual home games.

Reaches knockout round.Â
Group D:Â

Les Bleus won last Cup.
Solid pick to win again?
History says non.
Denmark 🇩🇰
Danes are dark horse pick.
Much depends on Eriksen.
Could they top Group D?
Tunisia 🇹🇳
Might get sent home for
rules violations, not just
for last place finish.
Australia 🇦🇺
Can Socceroos win?
Not likely but they are tough.
Injury troubles.
